Jury Statement
Luis Suria Lorenzo – The Song Wants to Be Light (1st Prize)
This composition captivates with its versatility and its lively musical gesture – engaging, sonically diverse, and thoroughly convincing. Its clear structure, strong thematic reference, and varied sound design make it an outstanding work. The four set poems unfold in a colorful, dynamic musical language with cleverly placed sound effects. Driving rhythmic passages give the piece energy, while the melodic ideas have an almost catchy character. A clear winner that impresses on all levels.
Chris Kovarik – Sister of the Sun and Moon (2nd Prize)
A work rich in atmosphere with a delicate harmonic structure and a melodically compelling choral arrangement. The subtle textual reference is reflected in the sonic elaboration, which develops an impressive dramaturgical depth. The music flows naturally, combining tonal sensitivity with musical expressiveness – a piece that invites both performance and listening.
Antoine Gabriel Brun – Stellar, Le Chant de la Témérité (3rd Prize)
A rhythmically demanding composition of impressive formal clarity. The contrasting tonal colors and the precise interweaving of the ensembles create a dramaturgy full of tension, intelligently enhancing the text. The diverse design unfolds a vivid, colorful soundscape that convinces both with fine nuances and powerful, expressive moments.
Alain Berlaud – Eclipse (Special Mention)
A highly differentiated and exceptionally demanding composition that impresses with a delicate sound direction and the virtuosic use of vocal and instrumental techniques. The work reimagines the possibilities of sound design beyond conventional playing techniques and implements them with extraordinary precision and artistic depth. The multifaceted handling of tonal layers and dynamic gradations makes this composition an impressive example of tonal sophistication and structural complexity.

The pieces will be premiered during Audi Summer Concerts on June 21st and 22nd in Ingolstadt.
